Salamanca, NY-Let me start off by quoting the immortal words of one Paul Stanley, “We got ourselves a rock and roll party here tonight!” These words couldn’t be more fitting for the Sammy Hagar show that was performed at the Seneca Alleghany Casino. The feel good atmosphere was set by waitresses bringing Sammy drinks throughout the show and a festive stage set up with beach attire required of course. The lights went down as a Nascar video started to play to the tune of “I’m on a Roll!” This got the crowd into an immediate frenzy as one of the best party songs by any band/artist, period; “Mas Tequila” was kicked into. The song ended with Sammy shooting a confetti gun into the crowd. A constant flow of waitresses brought Sammy drinks, who in turn, passed them onto the crowd. One drink was deliberately passed onto a woman who was celebrating a birthday Sammy added.

A cover of country star Toby Keith’s “I Love This Bar” was played and fit the mood of what the evening was about; having a good time! Sammy has a perfect blend of a backing band that soothes the music down right. You have David Lauser on drums, Vic Johnson on guitar, and Mona on bass. Her vocals are very similar to that of Michael Anthony’s and mesh well with what Sammy is trying to bring out to the audience. Sammy is the only artist I know that will go around to people in the front and grab items to sign and wear what fans give him. He also took the time to parade through the people who shelled out $200.000 to witness the show from the back of the stage through I Love All Access. He primarily did this during the songs “Dreams” and “Finish What Ya Started.”

Now, Sammy admitted to the audience that he is lazy and doesn’t care about anything besides his fans, family, and his band. Solo material may not be in Sammy’s future, but a side project with Michael Anthony, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani is. Rumor has it that all of them will be heading into the studio in September of this year. Stay logged on to GlamMetal.com for the latest news on that.

Walking out of this show I realized a few things. Sometimes, it doesn’t matter if the band played the right note, or if a certain song was sung or played differently, or if a particular tune wasn’t played at all. What matters is that you left having had a good time. I think that’s the impression Sammy wants to leave all of us with and that’s all that really matters!
